Barbara Mock

The contemporary American artist Barbara Mock, is well known for her sophisticated paintings of flowers (Floral Elegance), her serene garden landscapes (Her Garden), delicate tea pots and tea cups (Tea & Strawberries), colorful dried flower wreaths (Tis the Season Wreath), and holiday scenes (Festive Poinsettia Basket). She has hundreds of published lithograph prints and has sold millions of prints.

Her work shows an inner strength and romantic flavor so complementary to traditional interiors. Her structured oil paintings have a strong sense of design and she embellishes her work with brush strokes that vary from thin to bold. She is able to create delicate lace patterns that contrast with strong substantive blends of subdued color.

Barbara grew up in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Her art career started in grade school and continued though high school, where she took every available art course. She married Jim Mock and for the next 20 years lived, with their two children, in Dallas, Texas and Coral Springs, Florida, finally settling in Georgia. Barbara continued to work at her art and she exhibited at local shows during her stay in each city. She taught and studied with such noted artists as Richard Goetz, JoAnn McCrary, Raymon Froman, Bud Biggs, and Naomi Brotherton.

Barbara says she looks at the world a little differently than most people. "I have to study each new blossom and leaf. I really do take the time to smell the flowers. Each new painting is a challenge and a growing experience." She is very happy to be able to share her art with so many people.

Her impressionistic originals are in collections throughout the country. She has been in many shows and has won numerous awards.

Barbara and her husband currently reside in the mountains of picturesque north Georgia, where she continues to paint.
